The statistics of my website

When you've created a website using one of our web hosting packages, you can view your website's statistics in the TransIP control panel.

This article shows you how to enable the statistics and how to read them.

Enabling the website statistics

Log in to the control panel and click 'Shared Hosting' in the menu. Next, select your domain below 'Products'.

Click 'Site' at the top of the screen and select 'Logs & statistics'.

At the bottom of the page you will find the option 'Website statistics' with the current status on the right. You can change the status by clicking the sliding button.

• Green means the website statistics are enabled.
• Gray means the website statistics are disabled.

As described above, you can view your website's statistics by clicking 'Website statistics'. An example of what this looks like can be found below.

The statistics are created with AWStats. This is a tool that provides insight into the traffic to your website. The colours in the tables and bar charts each represent a way in which your website was visited.

The meaning of each colour is as follows:

Unique visitors

A unique visitor is a person or computer that has opened at least 1 page on your website during a period of one month. multiple visits only ocunt as one unique visitor.

The visitors are counted per IP address, so several visits from the same IP address also count as one unique vistor.

Number of visits (yellow)

This indicates when an external website makes a request to a 'Page' on your website for the first time. As long as the same external website continues to make requests in a given period, this will be seen as one Visit.

If the external website makes a new request to your website during the same session, this will be seen as a new 'Visit' since only a 'Page' will trigger a 'Visit'. External websites that call an image or other non-pages will not be counted as a 'Visit'.

Pages

Pages are entire pages that are called, and do not include individual parts that make up the page (such as imges, videos, or audio clips). These statistcs are also used to count your 'Page views'. The Pages usually end in .htm, .html, .cgi, or .php.

Hits

The Hits show the amount of executed requests made to the server. This includes the number of pages being called, but also individual files such as images, video, or audio clips.

Bandwith

The total of pages, images, and files downloaded via web browsers, shown in bytes.
