    .de

.de is the domain extension for Germany and is managed by DENIC. Domain extensions associated with countries are called country code Top Level Domains (ccTLD).

On this page you will find information about .de domains that you register with TransIP.

    Registration

    • A .de domain may contain a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 63 characters.
    • Emojis are not available for .de domains. However, the use of special characters/punycode is possible. The available characters can be found in this list.
    • .de domain registrations are annual and are automatically renewed at the end of the registration period of a year.
    • It is required to always have an address within the European Union as administrative contact. If you don't have one, the Trustee Service will be offered at checkout.

    Transfers

    • Transferring a .de domain is always done with a transfer code. You can always request this at your current registrar. More information about transferring your domain name can be found here.
      • The transfer code is always valid for 30 days.
    • Once the correct transfer code is used, the transfer will take place almost immediately.

    Other

    • When you cancel a .de domain name, the domain enters a Quarantine period (also known as 'Redemption period') for 30 days. During these 30 days, the domain can still be restored. After the 30-day period, the domain becomes available for registration again. The registry charges fees for reactivating domains, which is why reactivating will cost €50,- excl. VAT (€60,50 incl. VAT).
