    Personalising transfer and WHOIS branding

Some domain names (TLD's) make use of a so called registrar WHOIS server. With these TLD's it's possible to personalise a part of the WHOIS data, by adding your company name, contact address and other information. Personalising the WHOIS data in this manner is called WHOIS branding.

Another option is Transfer branding. When transfering some TLD's, you will need to confirm the transfer with a confirmation email. For some TLD's you can add your company name, contact address and a URL for your Terms of Service to this confirmation email.

    WHOIS branding

You can edit the WHOIS branding of your domain names via your control panel. To do so, head over to 'Domains' in the menu. Next, select your domain name on the left hand side and click on 'Manage' to the right.

    Click on 'Default settings'.

    click on manage

On the next page, click on 'Transfer and WHOIS branding'.

click on transfer and whois branding

You will now see an overview of the settings you can add for Transfer and WHOIS branding. When your TLD supports WHOIS branding, the information you edit here will be displayed in the WHOIS data of that specific TLD.

overview of transfer and whois branding

WHOIS branding is currently supported by the following TLD's:

com, .net, .tk, .tv en .biz

In the image below you can find an example of WHOIS branding for a .com domain name. In our example, Bannerline 1, 2 and 3 are edited.

    Transfer branding

As mentioned before, you can also edit the Transfer branding of your domain name. Transfer branding is supported by the following TLD's:

com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .name en .mobi

If you wish to transfer one of these TLD's, a confirmation email will be sent to the registrant and / or administrative contact of that domain name.

When you've added your own Company name, Support email and URL Terms Of Service on the 'Transfer and WHOIS branding' page, this information will be added to the confirmation email for the respective transfer.

In this article we've discussed Transfer and WHOIS branding, which you can view and edit in your control panel.
