Why can't I enter a password via the console?

    Password input via the console

Within a Linux or BSD based OS commandline, the password input will not show any response when entering characters (so no *** either).

You will therefore not see any character input, but underneath the characters will be entered. When typed the complete password you can just press Enter in order to validatie this input.
